Hi ,
I am trying to buy Bombay to Goa return tickets online from Jet Airways from here in Canada. I am physically in Canada.
Here's the dilemma :
A. If I buy them from here in Canada online with a Canadian Credit Card , the lowest return fare for the flight is about $ 250 CAD , which is around Rs. 14,000 INR.
B. The same tickets if I buy by logging into the Jet Airways site and choose India as the booking country . They have special return fares for around Rs. 5,000 INR.
That's a huge difference.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jet Airways allows Indian Bank Net Banking to buy the tickets. I have a NRO account in Indian Rs with ICICI bank in India. ICICI bank is one of the banks listed on Jet Airways for NET banking.
So Can I use this NRO account to pay for the tkts online via net banking in Rs and buy them for Rs. 5,000 , or is this fare only for Indian residents and NOT for NRI's .
Will the net banking payment go through ? Will they know I am booking from Canada and hence deny me those tickets ?
The tickets are emailed to me , and I can give a relative's address and phone number in India , if they want.
However my NRO ICICI Rs. account in India has my Canadian address on it .

Has anyone used their NRO or NRE accounts in India to book domestic Indian airline tickets via NET banking before , without any issues ?
They seem to be ripping off NRI's . If you book a domestic Indian airline tkt from here using a foreign Credit Card the fare is much higher & in dollars. But the exact same ticket if you book online from India in Rs. with an Indian CC or Indian bank account in Rs. the fares are much lower !
Right now I can use my NRO ICICI account ( in Rs. ) from here in Canada to recharge my pre paid Indian mobile , without any issues. Via Net banking.
Just to keep the number active & the mobile from being disconnected , I occasionally add Rs. 100 , every 6 months or so. The payment goes through without any issues and my mobile balance gets updated accordingly.
So I was wondering is the same thing can be done to buy Indian domestic airline tickets via net banking in Indian Rs. using my NRO ICICI account also in Rs.
Hopefully I can use it to buy Indian Railways tkts online too on IRTC website using net banking.
I find the moment a foreign Credit card is used like a Canadian CC , the same fares jump at least 2 times.
