e-Tourist Visa now available for Ahmedabad airport.

Has anybody availed this facility? How easy/tough it is to get the visa? Any hassles at the airport?

Meghal, it depends on how long your visit is and when are you departing? E-tourist visa is valid for 30 days only and cannot be renewed. So, if any situation comes up where you need to extend your visit, it cannot be done.

You have to apply by uploading documents online and paying fee. They will take 4 days to issue your visa which comes by email, which you print and take it with you to airport. So you will have to time it accurately. Best for short visits up to 3 weeks and a bit I would say.

Edit: You have to apply 4 days in advance.

It is very easy to get the visa.
No hassles at the airport.
Of courses, as Rajcanada has said, you have to time it perfectly.
I often pass by the Chennai international airport. They have a seperate counter for e visa stamping. It is always free. I have never seen anyone using it.
There is an incident with this visa that happened before which will validate Rajcanada's statement.
There was an US citizen who was invited for a lecture in Chennai. Unfortunately, he came to india after the visa was expired (e-visa). He came via Abu Dhabi. He was deported from Chennai airport and the carrier was fined a 6 figure fine. However he cam back again after 2 months to give the same seminar at Chennai.

So If I have to go India on say 1st November 2015, can I apply for the E Visa now or I have apply 4 days before 1st November.

Ok, I just called the india number on the E tourist Visa website and they confirm that we can apply 34 days before the arrival date.
