**Same as the previous post but attaching a poll***
We as a family landed in Canada in 2009 (my dad was the primary applicant) under FSW category. It used to take around 8 years at that time. So he applied in 2001 and got the visa in 2009. By the time he reached Canada he was 58 and it was recession as well. So my parents went back within a month in 2009. I also went back and then came in 2011..and now here (I have told my story before and some of you would know about it). My brother and myself (we dont have other siblings) both married now are here in Canada and are Citizens. My parents came and lived here for a year in 2013-2014 and went back as they wanted to get my brother married and it was getting difficult to organize that in Canada and now he is also married.
Now coming to the point, we are thinking and even parents dont mind coming back to Canada. But their PR cards have expired.
PR CARD VALIDITY- 2009 June - 2014 May (5 years). Time stayed in Canada during this time frame 16 months.
Current Status- PR card expired and it has been 16 months since expiry.
So if they want to enter Canada these are the options I have,
1. Fly them to Buffalo (They have multiple entry US visitor visa) and cross the border on Land as for land crossing on private vehicle landing papers are good enough and then apply for PR card on H&C grounds once they are inside canada
2. Apply for Returning resident permit in New Delhi office and explore that possibility but I am afraid the chances of getting that in new delhi is quite slim
3. Sponsor parents again- Seems to be a long route.
If you guys have any other thoughts please let me know.
Sir,
Since you are in Canada, I would request you to contact a lawyer or a settlemet agency (where it can be done for free) if you need correct information.
Or
Browse through various forums / CIC website and be informed yourself.
Even I want to know this answer as many of my clients want to know this from me. Most are working in the Gulf and want to stay there for ever and come to Canada only after their job in Gulf is denied to them.
Your major mistake was when they left in 2014, you should have waited for their PR cards to expire, got them new PR cards and then let them leave Canada. A good lawyer might have been able to have got them 3 years to stay out of Canada.
I am just talking from common sense (and as a Devil's advocate) :
If your PR card is expired and on the expiry date of the PR card, you did not even fulfill 2 years of 5 years rule, then how can they / why should they even let you in. If you are short by a couple of month and your PR card is still valid, then only they should let you in. One of my friend from Kenya was advised by the Kenyan CIC that they will not even issue him a travel document (Returning resident permit) and now he is getting a visitor's visa.
So, as per common sense, sponsering your parents again only seems the feasible option.

Also there is nothing to stop you from trying (if you have the moolah).
So I would suggest Point 2 and if point 2 fails, then 1 (if you dare). Then comes the point 3. But with processing times at 8 years , would it be worth it. Also if their medical condition becomes bad, then they are at a disadvantage.
Or you can opt for Super visa option (as a poster had mentioned in a separate thread).

The option 1 you have mentioned can end up being quite complicated. You probably should talk to a professional or lawyer regarding that.
I would agree to TK's suggestion of applying for super visa.
