All Immigration experts and Gurus,
I am need of your advise to know that if there is a way to extend/retain my PR status one more year after 3 years.
I have landed in Canada in the month of June 2005 and stayed there for a week after getting my PR card and left for USA.
Now I am living in US on H1B visa and awaiting my GC which seems to never come.
My 3 year period ends in June 2008 and I ' go out of status as I am out of the country for 3 years.
I need atleast one more year to come to Canada and settle there permanently as it takes some time for me to wind up every thing here in USA and fly to Canada some time in the month of June 2009 forever.
My question is whether is there any way to extend or retain my PR status in canada by making a written request/application to extend my PR status for one more year until June 2009.
Please advise.
TIA,
MS.

Here are my own reasons that I have but not sure if they are valid or not though.
1) My ongoing project responsibilities 'll end in 2008.
2) My kids education is halfway through.
3) Need to sell my house. (US housing market is vey bad now ,can't even think of selling it now)
4) Wind up all my financial obligations before I move to Canada permanently.
5) Finding a right place to live in Canada which suits to our health and skills.
Any help?

You have really valid reasons .
Three years period is not enough to complete all the tasks!
Try your luck and give us the feed back.
All the reason you gave are not valid, as you dont need two years timeframe to do all these things.
1)
Its your problem not Canada's Problem.
2)
Not a valid reason because
Your kids semmester is going to be end in Fall 07 or June 08...
How come it will take 2 yrs.
BTW how old are ur kids.....
3) Again it ur luck, Not the problem of canada... and Again you dont need 2 years to sell ur house.. it takes less than a month to sell a house....
4) Not sure what are ur financial obligations ... u need only 90 Days max not 2 years.
5) When u were applying for PR in Canada you must have decided where you want to live, Ontario, vancouver , calgary... and again you dont need 2 years to make a decision where to live in canada....
Dude, be realistic and Dont Play with the system...
Simply why dont u say that you are waiting for GC and they will decide by June 2009 weather you will get GC or Not. .
But To move from US to canada you need MAx 90 days not 700 days.
Hope it will help.

Say I am an immigration case worker. I have a stack of files (in the hundreds of thousands) each representing a person, a family wanting to come to Canada. Wanting to make a better life for themselves. Willing to make ALL necessary sacrifices to do so. And any one of them will be in Canada, working, living and contributing to Canadian society in a short 3-6 months. (BTW have you filed your Canadian taxes?)
And here you are - with your letter - asking for an extension. Your reasons are perfectly legitimate for YOU! What exactly does CANADA get out of extending this visa? If it is that we will be graced by your company in 2009 - note the above paragraph. There are thousands waiting to grace us with their presence tomorrow!
And yet again:
Ask not what we the people of Canada can do for you, but rather, ask what you can do for Canada.
