1) I am employed by a Canadian Company for the past 9 months. I am required to frequently travel outside Canada for official purposes. I understand that the days spent by me outside Canada will be considered as being in Canada for the purposes of determining my eligibility for renewal of Permanent Residency. Please clarify.
2) My wife who is a housewife intends to travel with me for around 2-3 months during my next visit. However if she travels, she will fall short of the required number of days (730 days in 5 year block) to keep her PR status live. However, I understand that time spent outside Canada may also count towards the two years if you are:
i) travelling with your spouse or partner who is a Canadian citizen,
ii) a child travelling with a father or mother who is a Canadian citizen,
iii) an employee of (or under contract to) a Canadian business.
It may also count if you are:
travelling with your spouse or partner who is a permanent resident and works full-time for:
i) a Canadian business, or
ii) the public service of Canada or a province,
In light of the above, please advise if the number of days spent by my wife outside Canada will be counted as she would be travelling with me while I am on official purposes.
Please guide in the above matter.
Thanks.
Yes, it will be counted as long as you have all your supporting documentation in order.
Hiren.
