Hi,

Planning a US trip during the upcoming 4 day Easter Holidays ... Fri & Mon included.

With in a 12 hours driving distance , what cities / areas can be accessed where the temperatures are pleasant (25-28 March) ?

Alternatively what destinations can be covered in 2 days sightseeing if flying out ... I know Florida /California would need 5-7 days in themselves ..

Ideas welcome ...

Been to Boston , NYC , Pittsburgh (a few times).

A quick look @ an RFD thread shortlists the following other than the above

Chicago
Washington DC
North Carolina Beaches (12-15 hour though ... don't think wish to drive that much)
Someone mentioned Knoxville TN
Philadelphia ..

Any recommendations from the above - the objective is to sight see and enjoy some scenic drive and areas ..

If driving, Count in Half a day for long weekend traffic backup at Border.

Go to NYC nice place for vacation

If driving it will take 8 hours, on the border no waiting time don't worry about that
if you are going to NY it will take 8 hours and 2 hours hold time.
I went to Toronto and Brampton to renew my passport just I came back to NY.
If you are travelling in summer like may or june the border is busy, but right now no waiting time also you can check online. check it out before you travel http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/bwt-taf/menu-eng.html#_s1

The Smoky Mountains are excellent for a scenic drive and a relaxing vacation, but it'll take you a day to get there. We stayed at a cottage in Pigeon Forge. Search for Gatlinburg, Dollywood or Pigeon Forge. You'll find tons of cottages.

As JRF suggested, Lake Placid / Tupper Lake is also a good one, much closer to TO. Been there too. Once inside the Adirondack Park, it's very scenic and hardly any places to eat (at least when we went there a few years ago)
