Not as difficult as it seems when you are far away. Dont let thoughts of -30 or -35 get you freaked out because once you are around -20 .. -35 generally feels the same. In Winnipeg, where I grew up, when the weather was -35 it was really nice outside..usually calm no wind.
Dont also forget there is natural beauty in snow - and kids LOVE snow. Its fun to play in.... those of you growing up in warmer climates may not have experienced it..but building snow forts..having snow ball fights..making snow angels.. making snow men..these are special things that kids do. As long as you bundle them up with thick socks, winter shoes..good outerwear..mittens and scarves/touques etc..they'll really be fine. You can plug your car in to keep the engine (sorry im not technical..) warm so it will start. Plus you can also get an automatic car starter etc. Usually city crews clean the streets so you can drive easily places..and indoor places generallyhave heat. Its usually during blizzards or fresh snow falls that its a bit treacherous..which takes driving skills, patience (ie drive slow) and learn how to steer if you hit ice.
I have to say..that I feel people in the east (alberta and eastward) seem to have better driving skills that what I've seen in BC. We get 3 weeks of snow each year and people dont know how to drive and there are tons of accidents.
If one uses common sense and dresses appropriately..you can do anything.
Just be careful shovelling snow from your driveway or walk way..if you are a sedentary person. Some people (generallyolder) have had heart attacks from suddenly attacking a driveway of snow..when theydont get any exersize. You can buy a snow blower though .

The locals are mixed sort. Some are friendly some are not. The only indians they have seen are from Punjab rural .

Most of the jobs are trade jobs and labour jobs in oilfield, forest, agriculture.

All sorts of rural entertainments plus sattelite,cable etc but no desi entertainment.
4. we know property is relatively cheaper ...what would be the ave house cost.
property is expensive everage house is 250,000 $
5. how about education and medicals
Education is like anyother canadian town for medical wait list for MRi and ultrasound is 3 weeks. for any big operation you have to be taken to edmonton 500 kms away.
The few Indian families are depresed always and think of visiting India all the time.

I love Churchill, Manitoba !! Noooo, not for living, but to visit those cuddly polar bears that rampage the town during Oct migration.

On a serious note, I do want to travel to Churchill. They have tours in those monster buggies specially built for polar bear viewing.
