you can sponsor if you and your wife made a combined income of $40,518 during the last tax year or during the past 12 months.

I have heard that the processing time has become very very long for parents. But no one has really reported that they have actually got it. I just want to know that - are peoples parents managing to get the visas after the long waiting period or is it that they have been cruelly delayed indefinately.
Waiting indefinately is really a sad situation. I'd like to know before I jump in.
thanks.

No they don't have to wait for ever. It does come after certain time - mostly between 2 to 3 years.
There are tons of people I know who sponcered their parents.

I filed in Aug 2003 for my parents and last month I got a letter from CPC, Mississauga saying expect delays since now the focus is on Professional Categories rather than Family sponsorship. The letter doesn't mention how much it would be dealyed. The e-status shows last file picked up was of date 24 June 2003. And this message if there for almost 5 months. I don't know whats the deal. First there is delay from here then in India they increased the processing time from 18 months to 48 months. So it can take almost 6-7 years before your parents can come here.
thanks for the replies. toronto desi, i am also getting the same impression by reading the information on the various websites available. i thank this forum because we can get to know such things. does any one else have any ideas about this delay?
i dont want to give parents false hope..and then delay indefinately .
