Hi there,
I would just like to know whether one can really go about 'booking' his RENTAL accomodation (online settlement and payment of charges),payment of heath insurance for first three months(online form and payments),and even purchase real-estate online, can it be done or not or is there any harm in doing it online or maximum thru a phone call?So can be done regarding opening a bank account, applying for a SIN and PR card once you know the address of stay.
Are there any instances of 'ditching' or 'backingoff' by the confirmed authorities, like suppose you have rented a roon on-line ,after confirming the same thru emails from India, but when actually you land up at that place, you are surprised to know that someone else has accomodated it or it has been given to someone ealse at a higher price?
So is the case of insurance and ticketing!
The word of the mouth and documentation on paper is the universally agreed upon
confirmation of your dealings, but can things go wrong in this approach or rather is this approach good, wise or advisable(like advance bookings!)
Pl. inform.
Thanking,
CAPRICO

For SIN, you have to land in Canada and apply. There is no online application for that and you have to go to HRDC with landing papers and passport. PR card is automatic process that is initiated on landing. You do not have to fill any forms for that. For bank account, again, you have to land in Canada and then apply with documents like landing papers and acknowledgement for SIN.
Real estate purchase online without landing in Canada? I do not know the legalities of it but would you would be willing to go for say $250,000 house without even seeing it in person?
Most of apartments' management ask for permanent job which most of new immigrants will not have. The other option would be going in for basement or sharing apartment with someone.
Health insurance premium forms again ask for the date of landing. Not sure if they will accept date in advance though.
