In Canada, You have to be a professional engineer to work as an engineer. Just a degree aint sufficient. So, PEO regulates the practice of professional engineering and governs those individuals and organizations that PEO licenses.

So, If u r to work here as an enginner, u will need a P.Eng license. Its not a option.

Go thru their website(www.peo.on.ca), and u will find all the info u need.

In addition to being able to work as an Engineer, u will be able to sign passport applicaiton forms ;) and get a good discount on ur car license :)

You mean to say: Car Insurance and not license, right?

Are you serious Bison? University degree holds good value if matched with kind of experience Canadian market demands. Design professionals are able to get job but project execution team members are not able to fair well in Canada. Similarly plant maintenance people are able to perform OK but if your experience is limited to particular machinery alone may not get you any job.
Real requirement of PEng is when you are in the capacity of signing drawings, certifying structures or attesting any of the engineering stuff. For getting PEng you need to work along with a PEng in an engineering company for a period of atleast 1 year BUT if you apply for PEng and are able to satisfy the terms and norms in the application then by taking few papers you can have a provisional letter from office of PEng. By doing this you surely have an upper hand in getting a job only if the field in which you intend to work has acute shortage within Canada. If you have experience in such field it will not be difficult for you to get a job without PEng.
It is adviced to apply for PEng but also apply for CET from OCEATT, website http://www.oceatt.org" rel="nofollow">LINK
Best of Luck
