My parents are planning to come to Canada this summer on visitor visa. My elder sister lives in US. Once they get Canadian visitor VISA, they would also apply for US visitor VISA, so they can visit my sister as well. (or should it be done the other way ?)
They plan to visit my sister for about a month or so. I checked US immigration website which states that a visitor can enter USA only from his country of residence and that too via airport, not via road. So I am kind of comfused. Should they go to USA first from India and then come here ? If so, would Canadian customs allow them to enter Canada, via road rather then airport ?
If anyone has any experinece, please do let me know.
thanks

First canada and then USA . Easier to get this way
Once they get the visas , Don't think airport / road makes a difference. They will get their I-94 anyway

We will find a way or we will make one
My parents did this same this around August last year. They already had visa for the states and had visited Canada before so they applied and got their Canadian visas via mail. So I'm not sure if the order of application really matters.
They first landed in New York, stayed there for a couple of weeks and then drove to Canada with my Uncle. Didn't have any problems at all. They stayed in Canada for a couple of mos. and then flew back to the states from where they flew back to India after staying there a while.
This was just how we had originally planned it though, it was just more convenient this way. I wasn't aware that you could only come to the U.S. from your own country and that too via air only.

Are you there?
Thanks both of you. On the website, there is a guide that states, "A visa allows you to travel from your country to a port of entry in US. In many cases, that port of entry will be the airport, where you land".
This created the confusion. Anyways, my daddy is gonna check with Cox & Kings, so hopefully we'll get the answer. But if there is anyone who has similar exp, pl post it on this thread.

tickets from India to US are cheaper compare to India - Canada that can be a good reason to come to US first. Other than that my experience is similar to BL's
