I am interested in immigrating to Canada. Couple of apprehensions are in my mind, request , if all of you guide through your experiences.
1. I am Mechanical Engineering Graduate with overall 5 + years experience -- but my job expereince is in Sales for around 2 years and currently in IT Services Delivery for more than 3 + years.
2. Is it advantageous to apply through Consultant.
Do I qualify to immigrate , as my job experience is not in line with my base qualification.

About youre qualification you wouldnot have a problem with the pointing systems as you have experience and also have exposure to different industries. The only problem is that if you plan to get a job out here then you might have a problem as you are qualified in one field and have expereince in the other. Out here they expect you to be certified in a specific area of expertise you have experieince in if you need to get a job when you arrive. But then there are government programs now look at employing foreign trained nationals. So give it a shot and best of luck.

I understand most of the immigrants in Canada are foreign trained nationals.

I can answer this one.
Yes you can apply. My situation was same.
Almost no experience in my own field (Mech Engineering).

my case was very similar to your...my experience was totally different from my base qualification
