Dear Members
I'm sankar Ramalingam ,Indian Finance professional based in Abidjan,Ivory Coast. I’m very new to the board and seek all your valuable advice on my eligibility for immigrations and opportunities in Canada . Let me provide some back ground on myself.

Age 29 years
Qualification B.com,CA (inter) ,CS (inter)
Work Experience 4 years and 6 months
Present Location Abidjan,Ivory Coast- West Africa
Duration of Stay in Africa 3 years ,since 2005
Marital Status Bachelor
Language Known English, French.

Ok. Here are my questions related to immigration

a) Will I qualify for immigration under the point-based system ?
b) If I qualify whether I should take help of immigration consultant or apply directly to Canadian embassy.
c) I heard about one of immigration consultant called “IMMIGRATION POINT INC” , is that a genuine consultant and if so what should be the agreeable consultancy fee that can be paid.
d) Normal duration from the date of application and date of stamping VISA.
e) What are general job opportunities for French speaking accountants or financial managers in Canada.

I eagerly await all your valuable responses

Regards/Sankar.R

a) Will I qualify for immigration under the point-based system ?

Of course yes.

b) If I qualify whether I should take help of immigration consultant or apply directly to Canadian embassy.

It is ALWAYS advisable to apply directly. It is simple. Consultants act only as a POSTMAN between you and CHC. No value addition and they are treated at par with your direct application only.

c) I heard about one of immigration consultant called “IMMIGRATION POINT INC” , is that a genuine consultant and if so what should be the agreeable consultancy fee that can be paid.

I am not recommending any consultants.

d) Normal duration from the date of application and date of stamping VISA.

Under the new rules only One Year.

e) What are general job opportunities for French speaking accountants or financial managers in Canada.

Refer to Canadian Jobsites viz. workopolis.com, monster.ca, etc.

If you need any further assistance please free to write.

Best Regards,

mpai64

Sankar,
I have same views as mpai64...

a) Will I qualify for immigration under the point-based system ?

YES

b) If I qualify whether I should take help of immigration consultant or apply directly to Canadian embassy.

Strictly NO Consultant.... my view "total waste of money"

c) I heard about one of immigration consultant called “IMMIGRATION POINT INC” , is that a genuine consultant and if so what should be the agreeable consultancy fee that can be paid.

Same as b above

d) Normal duration from the date of application and date of stamping VISA.

I am not aware of New rules that mpai suggested... would mpai64 or other users mind shedding some light on this....

e) What are general job opportunities for French speaking accountants or financial managers in Canada.

If you are the one, good, may get some edge in some of the openings... but if you are not one, don't need to waste time and money acquiring french language skills...

Sankar

Times are tough. Be prepared to upgrade your skills - education & communication when you reach canada. All the best

Hi Sankar

I was searching whether there are any opportunities for CA inter people in canada, then i came across your post.

I have similar educational background as you. Bcom and CA inter with two and half year of exp at Deloitte (Big4). Currently i am jobless, had to resign because of relocation. since then did not get any job.

I am interested to know whether you went ahead with immigration? If yes, is it through consultants or applied directly?

I am thinking may be I would not get any job with this qualification and experience. Suggest me if i should do any MBA course.

Please let me know. Appreciate your advice. Other members also please advice.

Thanks in Advance.
