Hi my desi friends,

:) This is Achutha from Bangalore.

First I would like to mention that, its really a morale booster going thru your website, especially for the people like me who are in big dilema whether to move or not .
well, I have got my Candadian immigrant visa under skilled immigrant catagory and planning to arrive during third week of OCT 2004 at Toronto.

Now, I am gearing up my self mentally and financially for the big move.
May I ask you certain details before making this big decision in my life.

First, let me give you brief background about myself.

I am aged 36 years, working as Business development manager. Basically a Marketing professional having 13 years of experience in marketing machines and industrial equipments.Mechanical engineer by qualification. Married. Wife is working as a medical transcriptonist and we have one kid of age 8 years.

Earlier, we were of the opinion that, all the 3 of us to immigrate together. But of late we have decided, let me first go and settle for some time and then call my family may be after 6 months.

- I am quite aware about the fact that, I may not get the job the in line with my qualification and experience. Whether it is easy to get some job to begin with within short time ? How to get jobs for living?

-what would be the accommodation rentals for one bed room with independent bath ?? whether any accomodation is available at some centres like YMCA, YWCA or ISKON Temple etc. How to book accomodation before arrival?

- How will be the weather during thrid week of OCT 04. Whether it will be very chilly ??

- Can I expect jobs in my own line after some time and what could be the average earning potential.

-whether any medical transcription jobs available ??

- Is it possible to get START LIVING TYPE JOBS before arrival by giving visa details.

So, these are some of the issues, which I seek information before proceeding further.

Daily I am browsing net and trying to gather as much information as possible. In some of the usenet group exchanges of new immigrants to Canada, there are narrations about some good experiences and there are some bitter experiences.

Kindly share your thoughts, your experiences, guidance and frank opinions on this.It will be of great help.

The visa validity is upto November 25, 2004. Within this time I have to be there at Toronto.

I look forward your reply at the earliest.

Thanking you,

Hi raoar

I assume all 3 of you have the landing visa. In which case their visas will also expire along with yours in nov 04. If you are arriving in oct 04 it will give you only one month to prepare for their arrival.

Rest of your queries are well answered on this forum. Please dig into the earlier posts and look into the classifieds for rental accomodation

ciao.

Looks like u dont have much time to ponder. IMO, take time off from your job, come here to check out. Some of the folks I know who have ME background are having a hard time getting jobs. Mfg. sector is ok, but there are locals with whom u have to compete.

Send me an email.

I will be moving to Toronto alone in the month month of OCT 04. Later I plan to shift my family once I settle there.

My wife is working as a medical transcriptionist for a reputed company in India.

Are there any Medical Transcripton oppotunities out there ?? Here almost all the companies provide medical transcription services to mainly US doctors an Hospitals.

Well, could you let me know how to get START LIVING TYPE JOBS .
Can I get some job confirmation before I arrive ??
Where I can find these kind of job either ??
What type of jobs that I could expect ??

As are aware, the prime most concern for any new immigrant would be to get job.

I hope you will guide me on this

Thanks
