Hi,
Can anyone provide feedback to the queries that are listed below:
1) Do we need to carry foreign exchange in terms of Travellers Cheques & Cash, for verification at the point of entry OR should I deposit the required amount (12,000$) in ICICI bank, Calcutta for transfer to ICICI Bank, Toronto, and ask the Calcutta Branch Manager to issue me a certificate, which can be utilized for fund verification at the point of entry? Is a bank certificate valid as far as proof of funds are concerned?
2) As we are landing in April, besides pullovers & jackets, should we also carry thermal inners (Indian stuff is not of a very good quality) OR should we plan to buy that stuff in Canada? I guess the cold in April would be managable without inners......what say????
Thanks

1. ICICI bank statement should be fine. I had aske dthe same to VJ and he said it was fine. VJ landed recently.
2. Keep a couple of inners - Jockey is good quality. In any case if it is cold, they shall be useful.

I plan to arrive in Toronto in the last week of April 2005 (our last date for arrival is 21st June 2005). Initially I plan to come alone. I am required to carry 15387 CAD for a family of 3 including myself. My wife and son will arrive a month later, hence my querry is whether I can just carry say 10000 CAD with me and inform the authorities of the balance funds being accompanied with my wife and son. Although this querry is answered on this forum earlier, but may be rules have changed, hence I would be glad to know the same.
Thanks.
I came here two years ago. That time, officials allowed only USD 10,000 per passport, assuming all passport holders are travelling with me.
