I am a web designer having 5+ experience in the field. Can any one from this field tell me whats the job prospects for me in Canada as I am landing there in last week of May 2005.

Where exactly are you planning to land?

Check out job ads in sites like workopolis, monster.ca etc as well as craigslist.org (toronto.craigslist.org, vancouver.craigslist.org etc -- go to the jobs section). IMO, the prospects seem to be reasonably ok, but check them out yourself to see if they match your skills. I'm not a web designer myself, though.

Most importantly you have to be able to show your sample work - sites that you built.
