I was there this week end and found a place very near the falls at $58 + Taxes for a two bed rooms. The falls was walkable distance and also very near the market place. We could walk to the falls in the night for the fire works, Casino and also the IMAX theatre.
If you stay a bit far for a cheaper rate, you need to drive down to the falls and you end up paying for the parking at around $15 for the day. Hence it is cheaper to pay a little more and stay near the falls and you donot pay for the parking, you walk to all locations and you can also come back to the room for your lunch or even for taking rest. Our room didnot have a Microwave oven and hence we had cold food. I would suggest as a typical desi to pack your food, buy disposable plates, spoons and cups from your nearest dollar store. You can carry a microwave oven and a coffee maker and hence you can save on food.
The fire works are at 10.00PM on Sunday nites for a few minutes. The Casinos are open 24 Hrs are only open for ages 19+. If you have children travelling plan well ahead. Try to take many fliers from the hotel lobby and other places as they contain coupons which give discounts to many shows like IMAX which we get a $1 off. The boat ride to the falls costs $12 for adult and children below 4 are free and between 4-12 is $9 plus taxes.
Before you take up the room, ask the manager to see the room, and check the water is hot and also the light and AC works. If many are going negotiate on the room rent, like if guy says $65 for one night (check out is at 11.00 AM) you should say I could afford $50. Look at 2 to 3 hotels before finalizing on one.
Other places to see are Marine Land, needs one day; whirlpool, butterfly garden, clock tower, buddhist monastery, night light at niagara, IMAX, 3D-4D film, CASINO, the niagara river before the falls- power plant, the free concert near the falls on sunday night from 8PM to 10PM, the boat ride to the falls and the list goes on. I would suggest that you should leave early in the morning at around 8.30 AM reach niagara by 10.00AM shop around the place for the hotel and check in at 11.00AM.
Go around the places by noon, go to the Casino late in the night. You could see the places on the way back next after noon also.
Good Luck !

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....
"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"
Snakaracharyya,
Thanks for your detail reply.
Could you please give me the Motel info where you stayed ...may be then I can search in Google.
I visited Niagara falls couple of times (from both US and Canadian end) but so far I returned back all the cases

Its funny that shankaracharya has given ALL the informatin except the one asked for that is the hotel name.
If 1 plans 2 vst Niagra dont miss 'Niagra by the Lake' valley which is a 20 mins drive 4m the Falls. An enchanting place - idylic flower filled valley market . And u may visi some vineyards also enroute .
Manasvi.
Hi
I was reading some CD's feedback on Niagara falls, there should be 'NIAGARA ON THE LAKE' and NOT 'NIAGARA BY THE LAKE'
