Dear Cd's,
I have been compelled as part of a religious tour group to have a retreat at Port Jackson. This is located at the end of Hwy. 404 North. It is North of New Market. I will be staying for 3 days this weekend. I will be staying at a cottage (actually apartment) in the Salvation Army Hostel . The cottage rent is around $ 55 + taxes a night.
I am looking to visit some interesting places around that area. If any CD has visited this area before, I would appriciate some information regarding places to see, things to be careful of, stuff to be carried etc....
I will post my feedback of the place upon my return.
I had been informed that i will have to bring my own food for 3 days and we will be having a pot luck for all the meals. Hence i canot try out any cheap buffets there and give feedback.

Looks like no CD visited Jackson's point (JP) before.
My experience :
JP was not that great. It is a little village near the lake. The lake was good. The lake had chest deep water 1 km into it and hence I could swim in the lake. It also had some small beaches where the Gora's were sunbathing.
I stayed at a cottage run by Salvation army. The cottage was crumbling and it was not that neat. But the price was $130 for 2 nights (3 days) and it was a 2 bedroom one. I shared it with another known family and hence brought the price to $65 for 2 nights (3 days). The Salvation army campus had a swiming pool. There were large grass areas where we could play games, sing , hang out etc... We had cooked food and gone and hence we did not eat outside. There is no fan /ac here nor individual TV.
The town was very small with no historic buildings.
Location : North on 404 till it ends after New market and then around 30-40 kms north from there to the lake front.
Hope this helps someone.
