Guys,
I am on vacation from 10th of June to 29th of June.
I plan to visit Chicago and Detroit for 2 days. Drive on 11th June morning and come back on 12th or 13 th night.
Since money is very tight, I propose to sleep in either my car or at some Govt. sponsered truck resting place. If either of that does not work out, I will stay at the YMCA domitory in Chicago.
My main purpose of visit is to see the buildings of Chicago and do some shopping (Laptop, dresses) in Detroit.
I am also looking forward to any temp. work in that area that I can do to pay for my food, accomodation and cost of Gas as I have heard that labour work abunds in USA.
Is the city of Chicago and Detroit safe to travel alone in the night time? Any areas to be avoided?
Does any CD want to give me any tips on the travel.
I would also be glad to take any (male) CD with me on my travel splitting the cost of GAS and accomodation.
My dates are flexible in case any CD wants to join.
Thanks in advance
Peace

You are going there for only 2 or 3 days and you have to travel to and fro for more than 1500 km and you want to work in this time and make money for your expenses!
You are really fooling CDs!

TK,
I hope you also realize that your employment will be illegal per US law (I am assuming you do not have the proper work documents or status in the US)

TK have a break pls - life is short - enjoy as much - money comes and goes - Go and enjoy ur time in the US and have a break from work and spend good times with ur family
Guys,
Cool down.
I just wanted to know if there would be oppertunities there to earn cash and if some one had done it before. No need to get tensed about it. If such oppertunity is there, I may spend longer time there since I am on a 3 week Vacation. I wanted to use this post as a sort of a template so that later users can know more about the temp. employment oppertunities that Chcago may offer (if at all).
I found a hostel which gives me domitory accomodation for $25.50 (incl. tax).
Next, I will find what attractions are there in Chicago.
Looks like no CD has ever been in Chicago. It is in Architecturally famous city and I want to visit it.
Peace

Hi TK,
I have been to Chicago. It is amazing looking city and better planned out than Toronto. Millennium Park along the lake is worth seeing as are all the buildings and sights in Downtown Chicago. Navy Pier is also nice and is all within walking distance to the park along the lakeshore streets. The architecture alone is simply beautiful.
