Regular Office hours are 8.00 to 5.00

Average travel time for Toronotians should be 45 minutes..

You can't leave your kids at home alone if they are below 12. You have to have a baby sitter.

Factory shifts vary - but usually 7 to 3 , 3 to 11 and 11 to 7. There are also 12 hour continental shift.

Hi Anjana
let me explain this in more detail.
The average travel time in toronto depends on where you live. The local train service is limited in two directions only. Buses take much longer although service is good. So thetravel time will depend on where you live and work and if you have a car or not. the average travel time in one direction in city of toronto is one hour.
the average travel time from toronto to suburbs in public transportation is 1.5 hours each way but can be less if you own a car.
The factory shifts start at 7.30 (to 4.30)
The evening in summer are long and sunshines till 8.15 PM
Winter evening does not exist and it gets dark around 4 PM. besides it is VERY cold.
Office timing are usually from 8 or 8.30 to 5.
Mind it that office jobs are not easily obtained by new immigrants.
Summer evenings are wondeful here and poeple spend lot of tiem with kids in parks and playgrounds but winter...your home is your world. One dies need to go to bed early as morning shits start at 7 or 8 and with travel time involved, it can easily mean that you will leave your home by 6 AM!!
The travel of course is much better than in any third world country.

Anjana
We manage the same way as all working couples in Delhi and Bombay do.
Life is busy in any big city be it shanghai or New York and YOU have to adjust.
and also do understand that in many cases husband and wife work different shifts as well.

You can see many people carrying their kids sleeping on streets of Scarborough. Obviously they are dropping their kids to the baby sitters home or taking them from them...

They same way you have to do..
