Let me repeat, I never stepped in for this thread as moderator anyways, I just stepped in as someone who knows Chandresh. Also someone who understands the point PTM is trying to make. Would've done the same exact thing if I had not been a moderator on the board. So there goes the double standards theory.

If you read the whole thread and my posts again (carefully this time), you'll see that I never said PTM was wrong in raising his point. I'm only trying to reason the fact that he's made his point and its time to let it go. Secondly, it was only a suggestion on my behalf (again not in the capacity as moderator) to PTM without any strings attached. I think he got it and seems to me we're all good now.

And about coming down heavily sometimes on others, we could do a quick numbers check on my posts and find percentages on how many posts I have vs. how many I'm coming down heavily on someone. Point being, I only do that on rare ocassions and when IMO its justified. Not claiming that I'm right all the time, no one is. But there are no intentional double standards on the forum that I know of, this thread would've been deleted a long time back if that were the case. At the same time, it is impossible to be perfect all the time.

Hope you get my point too.

I still do not know what was the point that PTM is/was trying to make. Opinions/views/decisions change all the time! Nothing is written in stone, and why should it?

From reading this thread, I too agree that PTM was attempting to bait and provoke Chandresh.

I write an article and it is available in the appropriate section. Then some days later, I change my opinion owing to changed circumstances, and I write another article and post that. Both the first and the second ones are mine and even though contradictory in some sense, neither are wrong.

They were nothing more than a prduct of existing and changing circumstances.

The point is, that it is only an article. Read it, you agree with it, or you don't, that's your damned choice. If you wish to write a critique, go ahead and do that. If you wish to debate the points, go find someone to do that with you. I am not interested in the debate, and why the hell do I need to explain to anyone why I changed my opinions or whatever!

I mostly do.......its just that when I write my thoughts never come down properly on the pad and it becomes a little confusing for the reciever. May be after a couple thousand posts on this forum that wont be an issue. Till then you guys will have to bear with me ;)

If I have not read every word then correct me, but some of the points by chandresh are pretty strong and could be termed blanket statements.
I agree some of them can change, but take for example racism, was it there a few years ago and has vanished now. The problem with PTM is he did not ask specific questions / refute each point. But he had a point.

-------------------------------------------------------
We all know that:
1. the medical help is absolutely lousy here
2. the education system is plagued by govt.'s lack
of funding and laws of "untouchability", work to
rule, etc. etc.
3. the racism is clearly and bluntly evident
4. corruption is of no less order than in India
5. family values have very very low priority in
Canadian culture
6. temperatures are extreme here
7. crime is quite common here
8. cost of living compared to gross salaries is
very high
9. taxes are one of the highest (or highest??) in
the world
10. etc. etc. etc. etc. .........
--------------------------------------------------

Needless to say people would come down hard if it were someone else.
I hope chandresh doesnt take offense.

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.

If you have reason to believe I am, then you are right...i probably am. If you think you are perfect then I am not being sarcastic.

Perception is reality...change it and change reality :)
