I m coming to Toronto as Permanent Immigrant. While I was reading the articles here, I came to know that I need to make two copies of list of all items I m bringing here with their price converted in C Dollars. Is it so? Please tell me, do I need to make list of all my old, new clothes and other items along with their prise in Canadian Dollars?
Also I want to bring some Ayurvedic items like seeds, powder (Ashwagandha) and dry roots (like basil) with me. Is it allowed? Will it be Ok? I v visited their website but found nothing on these types of items (they forbid plants, soil etc.) Please guide me. Thanks!
Yes, you need to make the list. Put in the valuable items in the list - other things, you can just group together - like clothes as one group, toys as one group etc. and put in approx value. "Goods to follow" list will need to be more accurate - including s/n of valuable electronics, photo's of jewelry etc.
Dry roots etc. falls under plants matter and hence not allowed, but they might allow it in small quantities. Don't hide it when you arrive, disclose it to the customs official with the purpose you are bringing it. Chances are they will allow it.
