Hi,
Just wanted to narrate an experience at the Subji Mandi store on Gore Road this weekend.
I purchased groceries of $80, about 20-25 items. When I was going through the bill, I realized that for 4 to 5 items, which were on sale, the prices charged were higher than than those displayed on the racks. Basically, they were overcharging me $2.50. Now the sum itself is paltry, but this was my second experience at the same store. Also I didn't see anybody else ask them about the price diffrences. People were busy stuffing the items in plastic bags and rushing to their cars. So people were getting overcharged for those items.
I am not sure if it was on purpose or by mistake, but those overcharges were sure benefiting the owner of the store. If we assume that about 500 customers buy groceries of $100 each on a weekend day at the store, even the small sum of $2.50 per customer would make Subji Mandi an incremental profit of $1,125.
Yup I agree with Musicgold. I had similar experiences at the same store three times. I always argued with them and got them to refund extra money but all other customers were busy stuffing the items in the bag , rushing out.
I agreed too......
I fould price difference as well, I was at Subji Mandi for Nirav corn oil 16 L and they told me $29 and same brand i got from Dundas Fruits and Veg at $27. Seatest Milk 3.25 % at subji mandi $5.19/bag same at Dundas Fruits $4.89.
That's why what we are doing now, once me and my wife togther, one of us always check the price on display and quantity as well.
Last 2 months ago they charged me twice for butter and we didn't notice, Now we are avoiding to go there anymore.
