Expert Advice from Immigra Lawyer/Accountant
I m Canadian PR since 2 years (PR on OCT 2003) and working in USA. We have not filed taxes in canada yet. My family moved recently to canada (no single tax return filed yet). We have new baby who born in USA and is not canadian PR.
Do we need to apply for canadian PR for new baby ? What are the implications on this with her USA passport ?
We need adv from expert on Immigration/tax on how to maintain my wife and my PR ?
Do we need to file tax return when my family is not earning in canada (Supported by my USA income)?
What will happen when I will go to canada in 2007 and beyond ?
Thx for your expert adv and great site for new immigrants.....
Cheeres !!!!
1) You need to file canada PR for your child so he can stay in canada and be eligible for benefits and education.
2) The day your spouse / family moved to canada , you also became "deemed resident of canada" and are required to pay taxes to canada as a resident.
