I plan to apply under the skilled immigrant category, the passports of my kids will expire in 2007. Will that be a problem if I apply now, as the new passports will have a different passport number.

You can apply now with the current passport details. When you get the new passport, you can send a letter to the consulate with the details of the new passport.

the same thing happened with my husband. he took his old passport with him when we went for the interview.
