My mother needs to apply for a new Indian passport as her current passport is completing its 10 year validity in March of 2007.
My question is can I go to the consulate with her old passport, all other relevant documents, PR card etc and submit the application on her behalf? And then pick up the passport later when its done (5 days or whenever)?
It would assume it should be ok since, you can mail passports/documents in...
But I would like to ask somebody who has done this..
I tried calling the consulate without success.
Thanks

Yes, you can do it on her behalf. I did that for my family

thanks a lot. I really appreciate it.
Its easier to get the passport renewed at the Indian Consulate in Toronto than in India . Its a fairly straight forward process and as long as you provide the proper documentation, it should not be a problem. I have done it on behalf on my wife.
