I am copying the Message from 'Sponsor Your Parents'. This is for people who are not in their Mailing List and is missing out on these very startling facts.
Regards
----------------------------------------------
Dear supporters of Sponsor Your Parents,

The federal elections will be held on January 23, 2006. Sponsor Your Parents is a non-profit non-political organization. We don't support any particular political party. Our only goal is to be reunited with our parents and we welcome any politician or party that supports us. We would like to bring to your attention information that might help you to make your vote decision.

Many MPs and candidates from different parties have supported us by attending our activities, presenting our petition and raising our issue in the House of Commons. Please find the list of MPs and candidates who have supported us at http://www.sponsoryourparents.ca/acknow.htm. You can find the list of MPs who presented our petition to the House of Commons (and those who refused to do it) at http://sponsoryourparents.ca/your_mp.htm. Please review both lists. If you find your candidates in these lists you can consider their position in regards to sponsoring parents as one of factors in your vote decision.

We would like to extend special thanks to Michael Mostyn, Conservative Candidate for York Centre (North York). Michael is a Legal Adviser to “Sponsor Your Parents”. He has attended all our activities and protest rallies and has supported our group from the first day.

As you know, the current Liberal Government has created the backlog of 110,000 parental sponsorship cases. CPC in Mississauga didn't process any single application from March 2004 to September 2005. In the last four months, facing early federal elections, CPC in Mississauga resumed processing of applications. They processed application submitted from July 24, 2003 to October 20, 2003. This is good news, but we need to ensure that they don't stop or slow down this process again after the elections.

We encourage you to ask your candidates the following questions:

· What will you do to make hundreds of thousands Canadian families to reunite with their parents and grandparents in a reasonable time frame?

· In your point of view, how long is reasonable for these families to wait for reuniting with their parents and grandparents?

· What will you do to cleanup the backlog on the parental sponsorship category if you win the election?

· Do you have any concrete plan to address this issue?

Below you can find a few quotes from the leading Immigration experts. You can find more on our Media page - http://sponsoryourparents.ca/media.htm.

· The CIC imposed a sort of secret “mini-moratorium” in 2002 on the processing of parental sponsorship applications. (Richard Kurland, Lexbase, April 2005).

· Only a decade ago, just as the Liberals were taking over from Tories, family class immigrants took priority. A series of Liberal immigration ministers guided by officials in the department set about to turn Canada's immigration program on its head. (Allan Thompson, Toronto Star, May 28, 2005).

· The Minister of Immigration Joe Volpe has announced “tripling” of the number of parents and grandparents from 6,000 to 18,000. What he failed to mention was that for the past 10 years Canada averaged 21,989 immigrants per year in this category. His department tried to slash this number to 6,000 but ran into legal action and an unprecedented backlash by prospective sponsors. (Guidy Mamann, METRO, Nov. 7, 2005).

· Recently, the CPC in Mississauga has been sending back entire applications to sponsor parents and grandparents. Essentially what they mean is, “We fooled you into giving us your money and provided absolutely no service for the last two years. (Berto Volpentesta, SV Canada, September 30 2005).

· Volpe's announcement led sponsors to believe that their parents' applications would be processed three times faster. But even after the "increase", it will take 6.1 years to process all of these applicants without even touching a single new case. In my view, we have been misled. (Guidy Mamann, METRO, April 25, 2005).

According to Minister Volpe himself, only 10,000 visas have been issued as per November 2005. CIC hasn’t met his own target of 18,000 parents. We have requested three times to meet Minister Volpe, but he refused. Many members of our group report that Mr. Volpe refused to meet his own constituents who requested to discuss parental sponsorship cases.

We hope that the above information will help you to make your vote decision on January 23. Your vote is important!

At the present time, we also encourage more people to join the class action lawsuit. There is cogent evidence "the squeaky wheel gets the grease". There is growing political support at the national level for our activity.
