Looks like the Hindutva party - BJP is in its last leg.

http://indiatoday.digitaltoday.in/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=28805&issueid=93§ionid=3&Itemid=1

The chief architect Vajpayee is fighting for his life in the hospital. The PM candidate L.K.Advani is nearly 80 and has no agenda for the election other than Ram.

There are no secondary party organizers. The President Rajnath Singh does not have national stature.

The only person who has some stature is Narendra Sinh Modi, while he holds the sway in Gujarat, he does not have any national stature.

May be it is the end of Hindutva in India and the alternatives are parties like BSP,SP, JD, CPI(M), CPI and the local regional parties.

It looks like Congress(I) will comeback to power with alliances in all the regions and may be we can look at Rahul Gandhi as the next prime minister of India.

In a democracy the majority decides. The quality of the decision does not matter but the quantity voting for that decision matters.

There is a great potential for a nationalist Islamic party which could unite all the regional Islamic parties and consolidate its vote bank and could be the key vote maker/breaker in the next elections.

Such a movement has already started in Kerala and Tamilnadu.

I guess its just publicity by congress for upcoming election,
I dont think we have any minister better than Modi at this point. BJP's current agenda is National defence not Ram. I believe that Modi has a vision for India. If you see congress, Sonia has hold in congress but is not popular amongst people, rahul doesnt have personality other than just he is young and Gandhi.

To me congress is in deep trouble.

Here's your answer, just pasting it from a similar article in Hindustantimes. Although it is about 'L. K. Advani', but when talk about BJP, it can't complete without mentioning Advani. You can say - both are synonymous or complimentary. I personally (may be biased) like to see BJP come into Power, but unfortunately some of their policies won't let them take forefront in the next LS elections. Sadly, even though Congress talk about being secular, it has a long way to go in order to be the one - they have their own share of riots and minority appeasing polity. They might have a majority, but they are as much communal as BJP. Unless a country seperate State from Religion, it can't progress. Same's with BJP or any other parties.

I don't see it as an end of BJP as it's got many talented politicians and intellectuals, such as Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Advani, Sumitra Kulkarni, Sunil Shastri and Neera Shastri, son and daughter-in-law of Lal Bahadur Shastri, Najma Heptullah, Maneka Gandhi and Varun Gandhi. The only aspect to be seen as how it gets it's acts together and be a party of each and every Indian. Until that happens, hope prevails.

So, following are the excerpts to answer some of your questions:

"
In a recent poll in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi, Advani led in all three — by a wide margin in Madhya Pradesh (over 25 percentage points), and by a considerable margin in Rajasthan (11-15), while in Delhi, he trailed Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi (but not Sonia Gandhi) by 12 percentage points.

Advani’s (and so does BJP's) problem is not with the electorate, but with the media that have never understood and, therefore, judged him correctly.
"

Does Advani have a vision for india? Beyond the Ram Mandir.....at 80, what is his claim to be PM other than ambition...and yatras?

Rahul Gandhi....no claim either....has not shown that he can take on and transform a party that is in morbid decline...

Leaves it to the Mayawati's and Modi's to claim the mantle.....

MMSingh is clearly a weak PM, but we did not see ethical lapses from him.....

I believe India's success in DESPITE it's politicians....

I actually think it is otherway around. Ethically speaking, he is answerable to Indians not to congress president. I only see ethical lapses nothing else ...

Well, I was pointing to personal ethical behaviour...no scandals, no junior Singhs getting plum contracts etc.

When we look at the Congress President, I agree. However, let us not forget the Left parties...

Actually, if you look back, right after 1989, there has been a weak set up, whichever party, or 'alliance', has been in power.

Vajpayee was always having to deal with the sangh parivar, right?

Bottomline is, NO party has a vision and agenda that looks forward, and that is unfortunate.

Exactly. In the last election, there was a party formed by some IITians and I think someone contested. In the end, everything fizzled out. Politics is not for IITians.

Political scene in our country is very complex and messed up that could lead to Mayawati (Behenji) becoming PM.
