Travel industry is controlled by CITC. Check their web site. U need three years experience in Travel / Tourism industry before you qualify to start your own travel industry. Or operate on other comapny names and pay commision to them.

Best way to approach this could be joining a company, learning ropes and then branching out. You may also like to join a course on travel and tourism.

I am in travel field for last 10 years.
7 years with KLM ( sales, revenue management, customer service)
2 years working at International airport ( business development ) and last one years as Country Manager of first low cost airline in Middle East called Air Arabia (www.airarabia.com ).

I do not work in travel industry. Though, I travel a lot for both business and pleasure.

I recently got an e-mail and a phone call, asking me if I would like to work as travel agent from home. Basically, a home based business. It also said I could become agent and save on my vacations if I donot want to do marketing. I cannot give you more details as I did not call them back or log on to their website for more information. That was one business opportunity where they did not pressure me or bombard me with repeated phone calls.
