TN to GC Possible?

Hello Friends,
If u r working on TN Visa in the USA, then is there a possibility to get GC in future?If yes then what is the procedure & how long does it take?

It is not possible to have TN to GC. The simple reason is TN is a temporary work visa and Canadians Entering in the US on TN Visa must not have any intention to make USA their permenant home.

Applying for the GC means your intention is to stay in the USA and so you are automatically (in theory) not eligible for TN.

Any way now GC is taking much longer time.

Dis-Advantages of TN Visa:

1.Unlike H-1B visa, the TN visa is non-immigrant visa. If a person on a TN Visa tries to apply for a GC, his TN visa would be revoked.

2.Degree is required(of minimum bachelors of US equivalent, 4 years/ 16 years of schooling) and professional/ industrial experience cannot be substituted.

3.Visa can be denied due to strikes, lock-outs in that particular company or industry.
