Is it required to complete 2 years stay in Canada in every block of 5 years to keep the permanent residentship intact ?
Do we have to show any proof of our stay in Canada or is it automatically there in some records in Canada?
Is it necessary that the original principal applicant has to fulfill this requirement of keeping permanent residentship intact ?
Or
the spouse who was not the principal applicant originally could continue fulfilling the requirement on behalf of the family and the principal applicant along with children could continue living outside Canada after they all stay together initially in Canada

Thanks very much. Could anybody please clarify on the remaining questions as well
very person needs to keep up the PR . you cannot have proxi. if your spouse and kids stay here then they can keep the pR andyou will loose yours. we have afamily who live here. the mom has not gone back and is due to get citizenship in sept. the father comes 6 months in a year and has kept up his PR. your passport will show the numeber of times you have left the country and come back. I know it is diff to do it bet here and US. but you have to keep up the proof as Dimple said it is up to you
Thanks Janmeja
I had read somewhere in the citizenship website that the children, even while staying outside Canada, are automatically granted the citizenship if the parent(s) fulfill the requirement of living in Canada for 3 years in a period of 4 years.
Now logically the above could also apply for the permanent resident requirement as well. Is'nt it
Now extending the logic further could we also not conclude that basically if only one of the parents maintains the PR requirement, the others in the family or at least the children wont lose the PR.
Is your opinion, that no proxi is possible based on some govt website, legal knowledge etc. ? If so please let me know of the reference links etc
Furthermore even if one of the parents maintains the PR and the others lose it. Would it not be an easy step to regain the same by them after some formalities... Well that is my guess.
May be I know the opinion of some more people who might as well have had the similar experience
Kindly browse the search feature by using words permanent resident spouse citizen........... u ll get ur ans ...this topic has been dscsd b4....

dimple, I believe what you have stated is not correct.
" the best of my knowledge, the Cdn immigration officers do not stamp your passport with entry stamp either at the airports or land crossings and there are no exit records or stamps."
Firstly, either Customs officers or Cdn immigration officers DO stamp your passport when you enter Canada(at airports). The instances of them NOT stamping should be treated as abberrations. Secondly they will swipe your PR card, which is enough for them to record your date of entry even if they don't stamp your passport.
