Don't get me wrong. My current project team is international. We are few in canada, few in India and few in US. DBAs and Technical resources are from India. The functional people who have client interface is from North America. We interface with client and tell DBAs and technical people what to do. They do it in the background and generally do not have much client interface. Two technical resources are from North America for client inetrafce.
Not to make an issue out of this, but what you said Lana about the long distance company is very true, so is BL about their pay. If I'm right the company in reference here is Startec Global. I've got tons of calls from them, infact one one occassion I got a 2nd call an hour after I declined the 1st offer. I then taked to the Manager, and was told they outsource the marketing to multiple firms, hence the multiple calls.
Peronally I've had the experience of Microsoft support from Bangalore back in 2002. I was very pleased with the support. The CSR was on the fone with me for 45 mins and remotely controlled my PC. Not only did I get the issue resolved but even a few questions that I raised on the spot very answered to my satisfaction. Following the call I got an email, letting me know that the issue was closed...blah..blah..blah.
I think it's all got to do with what you're...or rather the organizations are willing to pay for the service.
Lana, in your case there may be specific reasons why the jobs were pulled back locally, which only your organization will know.

Yes. You are right the company is startec. I get few calls every week including Sunday evening. Some of the reps are very rude. I have even asked them to take my name off the list but hasnot happened.
Apun knowing one Indian accountant (Gujju no less) and coming here he is not getting accountant job only bookkeeping even after doing the local courses, certs, vagara vagara. Then showing true Gujju colours he starting up outsourcing of bookkeeping to India and now making good bloody money having only 8 employees idhar and in India more than 100 bookkeepers with fancy names as clients from US and Canada and all cos very happy with result.
Kya Gujju ka dimag! Aur India trips doing at least 6 in saal.
Saala , dandha and vyapar looking like only way to make 3 figure per hour income idhar.

How much do you spend on your call to India.

That is precisely the point. For $ 20 a month business which I am never going to give them due to their snatching my long-distance from Bell without permission, so many calls??

To get rid of tele-mktg's, I ask them to remove me from their list
AND:
ask that guy to provide following details:
. their company's full name
. their full name - first name, last name
. their employee number/ID number
. their direct-report boss full name
. their direct line number
Usually this works. That guy will definately take your request seriously.
