Hi All

My self and my husband are planning to set up Canada as our second
home after we get PR in couple of months this year.

The basic question is where to buy a flat initailly. I have been
asking people around and they say medium-sized cities are better to
move in comparison to larger cities. Kindly advise out of the
following which cities are well connected and are economic in terms of
property rates:

1. Calgary
2. Edmonton
3. Victoria
4. Ottawa

We shall be frequently commuting between Delhi and Canada, leaving the
property locked at times. Can anybody advise whether it is safe to
leave the house locked in Canada while we are in India. What safety
measures one should take in terms of selecting the city and location
before buying the property?.

thanks

Rekha

This is a highly generic question. One line answer - It depends!
Depends on ..
. your financial strength - current and future
. your family size, current and future posibilities
. your job profile/skill/qualification
. your need for accessability to public transport, hospitals, school, parks, mall, stores, etc
. ... and the list goes on.

Best option, contact a real estate agent.

Each type of city has it's own benefits. As you mentioned, medium-sized city are good .. you get houses for decent prices. But at the same time larger cities provide huge job opportunities.

This is very debatable topic. You will find 1000's insisting on medium-sized cities and equal number for the other.

In my views, buying a real estate piece is a big decision. What's good for 1000 ppls might not be good for me. And the other way around is equally true.
