Hello CD Members,
I have been subscribing to Rogers Wireless, Cable TV and High Speed Internet Lite for the past 2 years. A year back i combined Cable TV and High speed internet to a single bill ( a 15 % discount was given.) . For this discount, i got into a 2 year contract on Cable and Internet. My bill was always electronic and i always paid by electronic transfer from my bank. Eight months back, I cancelled my wireless. Surprisingly, My Cable TV bill and High speed internet bill never came to me from that date. I thought that i might have forgotton to check my mail for the bill and i used to pay rogers through electronic payment from the bank $50-$100 a month thinking that the amount will take care of the bill more or less.
Today, i wanted to actually see my balance and so i logged on to Rogers online site. To my surprise, i found that both my wireless and Cable TV + Internet account were deactivated. I continue to receive the service.
My question is :
1. What could be the reason for Rogers to deactivate my account though i get their services.
2. What should i do now? ( If given a choice between calling them up and telling them the situation or pay when they find out esp. when i call to tell them when i move- in 4 or 5 months from now, I prefer the second option.)

Side note : On the website, i could see all the payments that i paid to Rogers. But no current bill or previous bills nor the balance.

Seems like they cancelled both your services but forgot to create a work order to physically disconnect your cable from the junction box by your house.
Rogers has no way of knowing if you're actually using the cable service, other than physically sending someone over to either your place or to the junction box. You should be safe for option 2.

I donot think Rogers have good control on their billing and collections. I had a preauthorized debit instructions to my visa. I had to cancell my visa for fraud purposes. They submitted the bill and was rejected. Rogers did not eventry to contact me and tell me that the bill was not paid. I voluntarily called them and gave a different visa card #. Even then they charged cable and forgot to collect my cell. I did not notice this as I had one bill previously and for some reason without permission they made it into two separate bills.
I think recently Rogers and Sprint have merged and may not have a good handle on their collection and billing processes.

Just to update this post.
Rogers started charging me from last month. The bill was $80 for ultimate TV pack and High Speed internet lite. I was in the better choices bundle and was on a 2 year contract which would give me 15% off. But the rates were outrageous. So i called them to remove all services and to give me just Basic Cable. The fine was $50 for each service disconnected. I then signed up 295.ca for $3.16 (with taxes) a month. 295.ca is really good and i get good speed.

Maybe some of us work for Rogers or Rogers actually has people reading these posts
But yes Mr TK its quite wierd how you suddenly start getting charged after 8 months.
