I want to be a proud and true Canadian and how can I be so?.I want to support Canadian products and services. I want to buy, enjoy and relish all truely Canadian products, programs and services.

As I would like to be a true Canadian, I would like to purchase anything only with a "Made in Canada" products, services and programs. I would do so until I'm here before moving away.

Can somebody suggest to me, the locations, names and brands which would help me to support Canada, and hence my 15% GST, PST will be of value, and the profits the companies would make can be in Canada than going elsewhere.

Please note this request would also apply to any product, companies or entertainment from US of A.

To start off, I would like to stop purchasing at Tim Hortons as it owned by Wendys of US of A. The same applies to McDonalds, Burger King, Wal Mart, Sears and the list goes on.

I humbly request my fellow Desis to make me a Proud Canadian!.

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....

"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"

Are you being cynical or serious ? :D

You'd probably find goods sold in Canada that are made in China more than anything.

I recently bought a crib for my baby. It's a convertible crib that converts eventually to a full size bed if I buy the bed rails. The bed rails are sold only in US (don't ask me why) and they are manufactured in Montreal

Hey, but I bought a Cdn product !

Anyway, if you are serious, one way of looking at it is by still doing business with Tim Hortons or McDees or Home Depot and stuff, you are still supporting the Cdn employees and sales tax structure.

When the label says "Made in <<any other country>>" that does not means that no Canadian labour is involved in it's making.
Our clothes might say made-in-China, but the design and material might be supplied from Canada. Same stands true for other products too.

So far as your pay PST/GST/Taxes and don't give any reason for proving your disloyalty, you are true Canadian. ;)

I try to relate each real life scenario with cars.
We consider Japanese car more reliable in long-term. By Japanese, I mean Honda or Toyota. When I buy any of those cars, doesn't it benefit Canadian work or economy ?
