Please Advice: How can I be a true Canadian?
I want to be a proud and true Canadian and how can I be so?.I want to support Canadian products and services. I want to buy, enjoy and relish all truely Canadian products, programs and services.

As I would like to be a true Canadian, I would like to purchase anything only with a "Made in Canada" products, services and programs. I would do so until I'm here before moving away.

Can somebody suggest to me, the locations, names and brands which would help me to support Canada, and hence my 15% GST, PST will be of value, and the profits the companies would make can be in Canada than going elsewhere.

Please note this request would also apply to any product, companies or entertainment from US of A.

To start off, I would like to stop purchasing at Tim Hortons as it owned by Wendys of US of A. The same applies to McDonalds, Burger King, Wal Mart, Sears and the list goes on.

I humbly request my fellow Desis to make me a Proud Canadian!.

The best way to prove yourself that you are a true canadian is by......working for the canada VERY HONESTLY.....follow their laws properly and never try to cheat the country which has a big heart to give immigration to the citizens of third world countries...where they are unwanted.......using sevices is secondary....adopt canada with a big heart.....and look at their positive points...not negative ones......well that is my way of loving a country.....wherever you live.....honesty is the best policy.....

Son-of-India, you're 100% correct, unless one is positive, it is difficult to adjust with either canada or US of A..

Sankaracharya,
Thank you for your effort to be a true Canadian.
The mere fact that you applied to immigrate to Canada, waited for all these years to get to Canada, paid the ROLF for self and family and travelled in Air Canada to reach this great nation, and staying in an apt. (by paying rent), paying taxes, CPP, EI, Health tax contribution out of your meagre slaary, commitment to stay here for 3 years to receive your citizenship itself makes you a TRUE CANADIAN. You are not legally obligated to anything, absolutely anything more than this to prove that you are a great Canadian.
Also note that though Walmart's , Wendy's, Home Depot's profit go to USA. these great USA companies hire mostly Canadian staff, buy some Canadian made natural product stuff (like Toilet cleaners, Softwood lumber, Nfld. fish, Candian Mad Cow beef, Canadian chicken) and pay them salary, so a minority of that money actually goes to Canada itself.
Note that Canada is rich in only Natural resources and hence you maynot find fully 100 % Canadian manufactured stuff. Also note that one of the reasons why Canadian market is attractive to some nations is it's free healthcare (even though it is lousy). This was one of the reasons why the new Toyota plant was proposed to be set in Cambridge instead of USA to offset healthcare costs.

Sidenote : I was reading a TIME magazine back issue and one of the comments in that was an aboriginal saying that " When there was a Tsumani, Canada immediately sent aid / Dart Team to prepare clean drinking water for the people affected by that in SL, where as the community that this aboriginal was from (in Ontario) was for 2 years under a boil water advisory and the comminity was air lifted only after 2 years of suffering while the govt. sent the Dart team to SL at a 2 days/ week's notice.". In my view, The Canadian govt. itself was not a "TRUE CANADIAN". Why should you or i bang our heads in the wall for this. Being in Canada itself makes you, me and all other immigrants a "TRUE CANADIAN"
