TK,

Although I am not in the market to buy a house, it would be great to know what this is.

Can you explain?

Iceberg,
if it was a drug house before, there will be too much moisture(humidity) and the wooden structure would have rotted. The owner generally puts in new gyp. board and sells it for a good price. Later the mositure seeps through the gyp. board and then you know that it is b'cos of the rotton wooden structure. Wooden structure is the structural element of the house and once it is gone it is not safe to live in the house.
A precaution would be to buy from owners who can vouch for the safety of the house like an old couple who have lived in the same house for 30 years. You can also check with their neighbours or do the environmental study at 5K to 10K cost.

TK,

Your home building experience is an asset to the real estate forum. Just one clarification, the envoirment study can be done for as low as $ 1500 for a home as big as 3500 sq ft. If someone needs the contact detail of approved inspectors specialising in this kind work, PM me.

Thanks for the compliment.
As i had told elsewhere in the forum, CP24 news told that it is min 5K or 10K (i am not sure which amount of the 2).
I am glad that it is just 1.5K. A person who is buying for 200K to 300K will not/ need not worry about 1.5K anyway.
Thanks for the revised info..

Nice suggestions on this topic. thanks
One questtion I have;

Is the "environmental check" required for high rise Condo Apartments ?
Or are any other such inspections/checks/considerations required for these high rise Apartments ?
