Out of sheer curiousity, How do you propose to live in canada for lifetime without a job if you
have 1 million dollars in liquid cash?

Buy enough property and rent it out.

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.

gulfboy,

My suggestion would be to check with your own firm to see if they have operations in Canada. If they have in Alberta, that's great (no PST). I think u still have time to network/check around. Your exp. in ME should count a lot. U may not be a GM in Canada, at least u may be a senior engineer which is not bad (good pay though).

If u really want to move to Canada, then first thing is to get a job. U have enough time on your hands. Who knows, things in India will improve in the next 3-5 yrs with regard to oil fieldds and u may be a senior executive. With money from ME and good job in India, u will be the king.

Gulfboy,

I am also working in M.E. I was in the same position like yours, one and half year ago.

I suggest you to go ahead with your application process. If you do not take the help of agent, it costs you C$2000 to apply. If you can spend some time on CIC website, you do not require agent services.

It takes atleast two years from now to receive medical papers from London office . Then you can review your decision whether to pay another C$2000 towards RPRF or drop your idea of immigration.

You should not regret in future for not applying now.

I respect Senior Desi's valuable suggestions on several issues. But I do not agree with the \"Age factor\", they put forward in several postings.

We should not ignore the long experience, Good savings backup (Particularly if the person is from M.E) associated with the age factor.

Faisal / Mercury6 / Chittesh / Loser / Desi in Ottawa / erra,

GUYS - THANKS A LOT FOR ALL THE SUGGESTIONS / ADVICE.

Looks like the way foward for me is to start the visa application process after reviewing this site and at the same time network with my oilfield contacts to check about job openings in my field - I know that a similar post is not on the cards, but as along as I get a decent break, that should be OK to start with.

Its not that I have to move in the short term from the ME, so I am not under any pressure on the time frame - yes, if things work out on the Canadian visa and job front around the same time, then nothing could be better.

Thanks again,

Gulfboy

Are you primarily on this site trying to validate your decision of leaving Canada?

If you are, you wouldn’t be the first, we used to have a few contributors like you not too long ago!
