Western societies have been through this whole sexual revolution bit already. For better or worse.
---I vote for the better because come summer you can see lots of pretty women in mini skirts or in bikinis on the beach. What a wonderful sight to behold! It’s much better than ogling at Zeenat Aman in Satyam Shivam Sundaram or Mandakini in Ram Teri Ganga Maili.
Different strokes can be lots of fun as long as it doesn’t bring home the storks.

Before coming to North America the Desi'd know very well that they are going to miss all the festivals of India. But they insist on coming here and get nervous if the visa is delayed. After arriving here they start cribbbing about life here and start feeling nostalgic about "vatan".

You know you are a desi when ........ You spew forth the virtues of India, but don't want to live there...............You've never had a tanning salon membership

I am talking about the whole festive atmosphere. That smell of joy and happiness (mixed with smell of sulphuric smoke of fire crackers). In Canada, I am working during the Diwali days. There is no way I can "get in the mood" for Navratri and Diwali.
And I hail from a city called Bhuj in Gujarat, where Diwali is altogether a different experience. It becomes a "mass" festival and not "individual". It is not just restricted to bursting crackers or going to temples, but is more than that. Nobody in Canda might be more miserable than me during those 5 days in Oct-Nov.
