Anybody on this board who has seen both the movies?
I am a Robert De Niro fan, but I got hooked to Pacino movies after I saw Heat (I had to stop "Scent of Woman" in between - I found it boring).
But anyway, between Scarface and Carlitos Way, I would prefer Scarface anyday. Scarface was released 10 years before Carlitos Way.
Both stories have a very similar theme. In one movie Pacino plays a Cuban refugee, in another a Puerto Rican. But the dialogues in Scarface are sharp and witty, the acting supert and the director takes time to buildup the story and the climax. Each character in Scarface is well developed.
In comparison Carlitos Way looks like a poor cousin.

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to watch the "Carlitos " but I'd been a big fan of both Al Pacino and Robert De Nero.
I find Robert De Nero taking a leading edge if compared coz he is acting is so natural (Have you seen Untouchables!!! Solid Performance as Al Capone)...
If you really enjoy a slightly different version of Al Pacino, you may want to consider "Insomnia"....
I really enjoyed such a wonderful wonderful performance of both these folks in Heat.. Val Kilmer did equally bettter.
The movie "The Heat" made my wife a big big fan of Al Pacino, partially I beleive its not because of his acting alone, its also the role that could easily attract many people...
I would appreciate if you could share other movies of the same sort, I would love watch'em if I haven't already...
Finally back to Nero, Have you tried "The boy's life" or "About a boy" or something where Nero did a role as a Step Father to "Dicaprio". No wonder both these folks are popular, esp such a performance from Dicaprio at a young age..

Guys ,
Somehow I find Niro 2 b playing extreme roles . Al capone in Untouchables or Cape Fear / Taxi Driver / Deer Hunter . Though definitely he s admirable .
Sorry 2 barge in but have u watched ' Donnie Brasco ' ?? Heard its a best of Al Pacino - I havent watched it but have brought the DVD . I recommend this .
Hows Heat BTW -- had mixed opinions of it ??
Manasvi.
Its a different kind of movie filled with action / sentiments / performance / high tech etc..,
Atleast for the sake of Niro and Val Kilmer... its worth a shot...
