The following observations which I'm posting now in this thread are very recent and have been since the famous Mississauga arrests.
I live in a building in which 70% of the occupants are Islamic, 25% Sri Lankan Tamils and a few South Americans. After the arrests, there have been a series of visits by the people from the nearby Jehovahs witness church(Dixie Road), who have been able to enter the building somehow, and have been knocking on the doors and handing over their literature called \"Awake\".
They start off, introducing themselves and later ask us whether we believe in God?. Then they start talking about life, Jesus Christ and they start reading from the Bible. During the first time, when I heard the knock on the door I thought it was a friend and opened the door, I found this two Goras nicely dressed and I did not want to be rude to them and let them in and offered them some nice TATA tea and biscuits. They started the whole conversation, and they looked around our living room, they found pictures, idols of Ganesh, Shiv and Lakshmi. They then started on from there, started reading from the Bible. It was 30 minutes, I could not watch TV at the same time I did not want to be dismiss them. After some time they handed over the \"Awake\" magazine and said they'll visit me again.
This week they came again, my daughter accidentally opened the door and they found their way in, started talking again and read a few passages from the Bible. They then told me that their God was the true God, the believers of the Kingdom only will reach heaven. They also told me that they can help me financially, and in their commune they have many professionals and by coming to their church they could help me to network with them and also it would help me to advance professionally. I thanked them for their offer, but as I had to go shopping I politely asked them to visit again and they gave another copy of \"Awake\" and left.
I foresee them visiting again. I have high regard and respect for Christianity and Catholicism in particular. I do not want to be rude to shut the door on their face as I would represent all Desi's in this regard and make their attitude change towards Desi's. At the same time I do not want to pursue with these people any more. I do not want to complain to my Super to how these people are able to get access to the building, as I would look biased towards others.
How do I handle this situation in a nice way, if they knock the door once again?.
Your views please.

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....
"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"
They are used to being driven away. Just tell them sorry not interested and close the door.

You know you are a desi when ........ You spew forth the virtues of India, but don't want to live there...............You've never had a tanning salon membership
Yeah they used to bother me too same way.
so i told them bluntly that i am very much happy and content with my hindu religion and dont want to change it.
They do the same thing with me several times a year. Before they even start the sermon, I politely tell them I am a staunch Hindu and not open minded to any conversions. After thanking them, I immediately close the door.
How do I know they are prechers. They are normally suited people riding bikes.

I have two ways of handling jehovah's witnesses:
1) When they ask "do you believe in God" i say "NO" and then shut the door.
2) Or i'll say "which God - I believe in 300 plus"

Jehova's witness are the Amway of religion - annoying, persistent, shameless and fanatic.
