Hi
About a few months back, there was a posting regarding the list of documents that needs to be filed to sponsor visit visa for parents to Canada. It also included a sample cover letter, to be addressed to the High Commissioner.
Can anyone please send me the link to that posting, along with the sample cover letter?
I did a search, but drew a blank.
** My parents are planning to visit us in Feb 2007, can they apply for a single entry visa as early as October 2006. Will the visa be valid till Feb '07?
Thanx

Immigration officers usually refuse on reasons such as lack of family ties in India (so the person will not leave Canada) or lack of funds etc. Try as much possible to convince them in this regard by preparing Family trees, snaps of famly events, net worth attested by Charted accountant etc in addition to documents mentioned in the link above.
Hope this helps. All the best.
Cheers!

There is checklist on Canada Consulate India website. You can also send letter from employer, bank statement, proof of residence in Canada, a affidavit offer letter why you calling you parent here.
I think senior members can light more on this.
Thanks for the link.
My parents are planning to come here in the month of Feb '07, but can they apply for a visit visa as early as in the month of October 06?
Can someone please let me know.

u can chk the list on the canadian embassy site.besides that you can also have a affidavit saying that they will return so that the canadian gov. is sure they will retuen back.
2. Bank statement with 4-5 lakhs in it.
3. property background.
many related checks
my mother-in-law just came and it took just 2 months for us to get her visa
as per my knowledge u can not apply earlier. visa time starts from the day u get it.
lets take 2 examples :
1 say u get visa for 5 years , ur counting will start right away for 5 yrs but at the canadian air port they will give u permission tos tay for some time lets say they allow 6 months. They will stamp a date of after 6 months. that 6 months counting will start from date of entry in canada.
2 but if they get visa for 6 months only that counting will also start frm date of getting visa.
hope this clarifies and not confuses u more
The Canadian Government does not prohibit Parent's from visiting their children. In fact they encourage even immigrating to Canada. Well that is ball of wool of a different colour. That is not what you want to know here.
First as everyone says here.
Show how well they are settled there in India.
a) Bank balance
b) Property ownership
c) an affidavit to reassure that they will head back.
d) Of course a return ticket with a fixed return, may it be six months +
( try to get them here in the spring if at all possible.)
e) A good health insurance policy with NO DEDUCTIONS at all.
f) a letter of invitation to the two with specifics, such as their name, address,
passport number, validity and confirming or assuring them that they have
good health and good intentions of course.
Please provide them with a letter from your employer if it calls for, saying that you are profitably emplyed.....etc., i.e your bonafides.
Provide them with all the phone numbers that they need to contact you, in case it is required and also trasin them to say that they will return back on the return ticket when the time comes. How's that? Is this enough?
Godd Luck
