Oh it's no hassle really..
Taxation can be a pain.. but it's mostly because you "feel" like you are paying more after paying US taxes at lower rate and then giving again to Socialist Republic of Canada at higher rate difference.. but there are specialists that handle that..
Commute is hassle but once you get over daily questioning and learn to not take it personally.. US guards do make it professional and Canadians are the friendliest bunch so .. sofar it's bearable..
Money is definitely more but that's just for me..
All in all though I think you are doing the right thing.. living in a limbo trying to ride 2 countries at the same time is just not worth it.. ! I had my choice I would have either given up Canadian card and settled in US or taken up exciting work in Canada 3 yrs back.. now it's an investment in time that has to produce citizenship before I cut my losses...

Yes.. we H1B have been so scarred by "No H1bs Allowed" boards everywhere that even being able to belong to group of other H1Bs seems like impossible task
