I had been to Frankie's tomatoes 2 days back and i did not like it much. I paid $17 + tax for a meal.
My general peeves were :
1. Very dirty and old place. Tables had cheap plastic covers and the chairs were horrible ones.
2. Food item variety were not that much and was not tasty at all. For eg. they had only 3 types of Pizza and they were very small size. The types were Pepparoni, 3 cheese and veg. Pizza.
Conclusion : I felt that for the money paid, the food was a disater. IMO, Manderin or Imperial buffet is a better choice for the money involved.

Sidenote : 90 % of the employees were sri lankans or Chinese and this was a wonder to me, seeing that it is supposed to be an Italian joint. The majority of Chefs were Srilankan.

Toni Bulloni @ 156 Cumberland is good. I go there often.

Mumbai Maazi Ladki ...
I doubt these crappy North American spinn-offs on regional foods will ever appeal to the palate of a true connoisseur of food of that ethnicity.
I am no expert in Italian foods but I have been to many Italian restaurants and definitely to most of these stinky chains because initially one doesn't know any better.
The really good retaurants however have a different feel to them altogether and the taste is...well authentic...just in the way it tingles your senses.
If you want to taste true Italian food, you have no choice but to roam downtown Toronto where you will find plenty of small and cozy joints. My favourite has always been Terroni's.

I love authentic Italian and my 2 favourite restaurants are Dante's up in Richmond Hill (Yonge/Hwy 7 area). Watch out when you order entrees...they are huge and it's guaranteed you will not finish it (excellent for take home though!)
I also like John's Italian Caffe at Spadina and Dundas. On a side note there is an excellent pure vegan restaurant just a few spots down called Vegetarian Haven which my wife just loves!
Cheers,

I like Dante's too.
Usually we request them to deliver when we work late or weekends.
They deliver to downtown as well , not just Richmond Hill and areas around.
Fanzorelli's in downtown Brampton is good too.
