I have read a few posts on this forum about the TOEFL exam but couldn't get a hang of how tough or easy it is. I have always studied in good schools in India and am fluent in English. Should I prepare for this test or should I just go ahead and ace the exam? Any personal experiences? I need to get a score of 90 on the internet based test to be eligible to apply for a U.S. University. How is the writing part, does the essay need any preparation? Thanks in advance for any inputs.
Google on TOEFL and you will see many online (free and paid) preparation sites.

I appeared for TOEFL iBT about 3 months ago. Even though you are good in english, its better to prepare to know the techniques & how effectively you can ace it.
This has been my experience. I took Princeton review book 2006.Its good. If you are taking online tests offered by TSE for which you have to pay then dont buy their edition.Bcoz both are same.
Believe me its good to be prepared and keep your cool during the test. And best place to go through all avalibale editions is "Chapters" outlet. You can sit there and study for a long time (I did it!)
And yes both writing and speaking requires practice.
I hope this will help you.
Shriya.

Many thanks Garvo Gujarati, Shriya and Ramrao for your most valuable comments. I will definitely prepare for at least two weeks and get the books from Chapters.
