i am planning a short visit to india in a couple of months. what are the ideal items to take to india to give as gifts to friends and relatives and the shops to buy those things .My budget is only $1000 and obviously not looking for very expensive things.

i have few things in mind pls add/delete to that list.

1. Two pairs of Addidas shoes (Though Nike is expensive and popular in canada addidas is popular
in India)
2. Few bottles of perfumes from Sears (don't know which brands/products are good)
3. T-Shirts worth $20 (Which shop?)
3. Two Levis jeans
4. Soaps
4. Peppered beef Jerky
5. Smoked salmon fish
6. Chocolates
7. Maple syrup

for Perfumes try flea market one in Brampton..
all popular brands perfumes..1/3 prices no tax..
for example Eternity for men (95 +tax in sears) ....you will get it in 45$
