Cd's i am searching charcha for any posting on taking your car to USA if your company transfers you on L1 visa as i still do not qualify fro TN visa yet.
I wanted to know the procedure.

Taking your cdn car to the USA is not dependent on the type of non immigrant visa. Therefore, it does not matter if you are on TN or H1/L1.
Based on this, you will be able to take your car to the US depending on the make and model of your car. I took my (cdn) car to the US and registered it without any problems. BTW, what type of car is it? (make, model and year)...
You will have to import the car - for that you will need the compliance certificate from the manufacturer. Also, if you have a lien on the car, you will need a (no objection) letter from the lender to take your car acorss the border.
Let me know if you need any more info. in details..
If you know that you will be coming back, then i think it is best to keep ON registration, ON tags and ON insurance (make sure they cover you in USA).
But if you know that you won't be coming back, it is better to export it to US and get it registred in whatever US state you will be residing in.
