Hello,
My name is ruby. I have just received a positive LMO from service canada and have applied for my postgraduate wok visa extension today itself. i wanted to know if after i get my visa extension and i quit my job, will i require another LMO anf Visa Extension for a different job?
also if my current employer calls immigration and lets them know that i no longer work with them(after i get my visa extended) will it have any effect on visa, can they revoke it? what will be the imolications.
i am also going to apply for my PR in june, 2008. my visa is good till july. i would appreciate it someone could accuately answer my query! Thanks
Ruby C
LMO is the affirmation given by HRSDC to a Canadian employer to hire a foreign worker, based on which the foreign worker applies for Work Permit or extension of work visa.
Once the extension of visa is granted and you decide to work with a new employer, the new employer will have to again get a positive LMO from the local HRSDC before it can hire you.
Switching the employers does not affect your visa extension as you once you are granted the extension, you are legally entitled to stay and work in Canada.
However, when you are hired by the new employer , you must apply to CIC to get the name of the employer changed on your visa paper.
Thank you so much Mr. kalara. that was so prompt.
so even if my current employer calls immigration(that is assuming my visa has been extended) and tells them that i do not work with them any longer, nothing will happen to my visa?
also what is the pocedure of letting cic know that i have changed employers? what forms or documents do i need to submit?
Ruby
Directly answering your question, once you receive the extension in visa, your employer cannot get it reversed.
You would have to apply to CIC to change the name of the employer by filling up:
Application to Change Conditions, Extend My Stay, or Remain in Canada [IMM 1249]
Thank You so much!
