Cd's,
I have a G test scheduled at St. Catherines on May 25th at 2:15 pm.
Do any of the CD's have any idea as to how the test centre is an how the examiners are? I have to pass this G test in this attempt as my license is expiring July 1 st.
Any pointers appriciated.

TK A

Footnote : All the other known and nearby centres were all booked till the end of july when i started looking a week back. Centres full incl. Brampton, Orangeville, barrie, Kitchener, Oakville, Hamilton, Burlington etc..

Try guelph. They also have a 80Kmph highway and the 401 is too far to take you for G test.

As I will be going for my G2 on Friday I require the following information :
I have not been able to fix up an instructor for highway driving and hence request recent G license holders to tell me as to what the examiner will ask and what i will be required to do on the highway?
What lane should i keep if he does not tell anything and also if he asks me to go to the left most lane ,should i get back to the right most lane once i do this?
Any pointers would be appriciated.

The examiner will mostly check how careful you are on the road.

Additionally observation and information of vehicles around you via mirrors is very important.

If you have the yellow page what you get from the previous cleared / failed test, there is a checklist that you can follow to be careful.

No, you shouldn't come back after you have been asked to move to the left most lane. He is probably going to ask you to do a left turn. This is not a GULF country, the examiner will make you very comfortable and not ask you any trick questions.

I got my G in first attempt after a 1 hour lesson. Let me know if you want the name of the guy who gave me that 1 hour super duper lesson.

Things to look out for:

Dead stops at stop signs. Dead stop strictly means no rolling of wheels.

No stops at non stop signs! Unless there is pedestrian traffic or vehicle traffic.

Whenever crossing any junctions, look around.

Blind spot check - whenever you change lane, even if you move to a lane which originates from your lane and there is no chance of any vehicle in that lane (bikers!)

Use seat belts. Use warning lights when turning. Observe speed limits strictly.

Crossing railway tracks with no acceleration and no brakes, just gliding and one glance at left and right.

Merge into highway only when safe distance from the car behind. Switch lanes in the same way. Blind spots and rear mirror check a must while switching lanes. Blinkers another must.

Be confident, you have a margin of a lot of small mistakes, but no margin for even one big mistake! Don't be nervous. Cool down and listen to the instructions carefully.

Don't drive as if you are alone on the road. Always expect other vehicles and do the checks even when you know you are alone on the road. You are being checked for following the rules and observing the law.

If possible, DO arrive early at the test centre and practive driving in the test track (if your instructor can identify the test tracks for you).

Good luck. Drop me a note when you pass, and I am sure you will!
