We (my children and myself) will not be able to complete the 730 days required to maintain PR status. We are landed in Canada in July 2004 and left in June 2005. OUR PRC WILL BE EXPIRE ON JULY 2009
Do we have a chance to extend our PR card. I never realised it was such a serious matter. Now, it worries me, please will somebody be able to help me by giving me the names of lawyers etc or can appeal our case.
and there may be no point in doing so. It is a long shot at best and you may just end up loosing your money.
The law is always a serious matter - how could you think otherwise? I would approach a Canadian Embassy or High Commission explain your situation and ask what needs to be done to extend your PRC. If they cannot, ask who can.
You will need to show :-
1) that you had a very good reason, absolutly beyond your control like incarceration or kidnapping, that you could not be in Canada to complete the requirements.
2) That you are now almost ready - in a few weeks - to settle in Canada forever.
If you cannot do any one of those, do not even consider trying to get the extention. You have to keep their position in mind. Canada needs immigrants but if you are not able to immigrate, then you are of no need to Canada.

I am not an expert in this field, but think that the rule is to live 2 years out of 5 years. So, if you have already lived in Canada from July 2004 until June 2005 (approx. 11-12 months), then why don't you move here now and complete your 730 days requirement. Please check the CIC website for details.

Sorry for sounding rude. Why the hell do you guys end up in such situations? Don't you know the rules? Its pretty black and white. Why do you end up creating special cases? Utterly baffling.
You screwed up and you now want to find something in the system that will bail you out?
I think the OP wants to have his cake and eat it too. He seems well aware of the rules and is prob expecting some baling out measures in the absence of which he may come before June / July this year . If you wish to be a PR then might as well come earlier - if you don't then why bother ?
There s a legal process but the result is uncertain and money consuming as BV has pointed . There s no other measure rather than re enter and stay for the rest of the period as Ash has suggested.
